Canada - Start-Up Visa Business Migration

Canada’s Start-Up Visa (SUV) offers a pathway to permanent residence for innovative entrepreneurs who can build competitive businesses in Canada. To qualify, you must secure support from a designated organization, such as an approved venture capital fund (minimum CAD 200,000), angel investor group (minimum CAD 75,000), or business incubator (program acceptance). Founders (up to five) must each hold at least 10% of voting rights and, together with the designated organization, control over 50%. Applicants need CLB 5 in English or French and sufficient settlement funds. The designated organization issues a Letter of Support; IRCC receives a Commitment Certificate. While PR is processed, eligible founders may obtain an LMIA exempt work permit to launch operations in Canada. PR benefits include the right to live anywhere in Canada (outside Quebec’s selection system), access health care, and include spouses and dependent children. Your venture should be innovative, scalable, and capable of creating jobs for Canadians. Typical steps: craft a pitch and business plan, approach designated organizations, secure commitment, submit applications, complete medical and security checks, and land in Canada to build traction. Processing times vary; aligning immigration strategy with fundraising and market entry plans increases success. Consider legal counsel to navigate complexities effectively.
